Tufting Workshop

Students will be introduced to the various tools and materials used in rug tufting, including the tufting gun, yarns and fabrics, and frames or looms. They will learn how to select and prepare their materials for use in their rug, and become familiar with the basic techniques of rug tufting.

Students will learn the techniques for creating loops and pile using the tufting gun. Students will also learn about maintaining a consistent tension and direction while tufting, as well as how to troubleshoot common problems that may arise during the process.

Students will use the techniques they've learned to begin creating their own rug. They will work at their own pace and have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and patterns to create a rug that is unique to them.

Instructors will guide students in the proper techniques for finishing and trimming their rug. They will learn how to bind the edges of the rug, cut the pile to a specific length, and add any final details or embellishments.
